Services.

AAPHD strives to encourage our students to get involved in the community. Even though we are not a pre-dental organization, we do still encourage the improvement of our members as dental school applicants. As a public health group, it is not how goal to provide DAT preparation or other application related topics. To make up for this since the majority of our members are pre-dental students, our organization has joined with the UNM Pre-Dental Society to bring our students the "UNM Dental Group."

UNM Dental Group.

The UNM Dental Group is a duo of student lead organizations at the University of New Mexico which provide all the services needed to become better dental school applicants. While AAPHD and the Pre-Dental Society function independently from each other, we have entered into a Collaborative Agreement that binds us to making large scale decisions together and as one. When signing up with our organization, the member will also be signing up with the Pre-Dental Society and the other way around. The benefits of both groups are given to our members so they do not have to go to multiple groups to get the help they need.

The UNM AAPHD chapter is a one of a kind in the US in that it is a dental school program chartered at an undergraduate school. These circumstances have lead us to this agreement to adapt and better suit our audience and those who are signing up as members. AAPHD's goal will always be to advance and promote better public health dentistry but we've decided to hit this goal from another angle in addition to the traditional ways. The future is what lyes ahead and the target we want to change. Our members will be the leaders of the oral health profession and they themselves will improve our communities through what we have taught and encouraged them to do.
